Organization Overview
Huduma Yangu Furaha Yangu (HYFY) is a community-based organization operating in Tanzania, committed to improving the lives of women, girls, children, and vulnerable groups. HYFY implements integrated development, advocacy, and humanitarian programs that address education access, gender equality, health and well-being, economic empowerment, and spiritual and psychosocial support. All volunteer placements are aligned with HYFY’s official programs and ongoing community projects.

Volunteer Program Areas and Descriptions
Education Support Program (Back to School Project)
This program supports vulnerable children, especially girls, and teenage mothers to access and remain in formal education. Volunteers assist with tutoring in basic subjects, homework support, reading clubs, life skills sessions, mentorship, and school readiness activities. Volunteers may also support community awareness campaigns with parents and local leaders to address early marriage, school dropout, and child protection concerns.
Gender Advocacy & Humanitarian Support Program (Sauti ya Mwanamke & Faraja Projects)
This program focuses on promoting gender equality, women’s rights, and protection from gender-based violence. Volunteers support community dialogues, awareness campaigns, and training sessions on women’s rights, GBV prevention, and positive social norms. They may assist with humanitarian outreach including home visits, distribution of essential items, and referrals for psychosocial or legal support, working closely with local leaders and service providers.
Health & Wellness Program (Afya Bora Project)
Volunteers contribute to community health promotion activities focused on sexual and reproductive health, menstrual hygiene management, maternal health, HIV/AIDS awareness, and general wellness education. Activities include supporting health education sessions, community screenings, sanitation and hygiene campaigns, and distribution of dignity kits. This program emphasizes prevention, awareness, and community-led health solutions.
Economic Empowerment & Livelihood Program (Mwanamke Inuka & Timiza Malengo Projects)
This program empowers women and teenage mothers with skills for income generation and economic independence. Volunteers support entrepreneurship training, financial literacy sessions, savings and loan group facilitation, and basic business record-keeping. Volunteers with relevant experience may assist in vocational skills training such as tailoring, baking, hairdressing, or digital marketing, helping beneficiaries build sustainable livelihoods.
Community & Faith Outreach Program (Gospel Outreach & Church Planting Projects)
This program integrates spiritual support with social development. Volunteers assist with community outreach activities, counseling support, youth mentorship, and faith-based initiatives aimed at strengthening values, resilience, and social cohesion. Activities are implemented in collaboration with local churches and community structures, respecting diversity and community norms.
Volunteer Requirements
– Volunteers aged 16+ (under 18 with guardian consent)
– Commitment to community service and learning
– Cultural sensitivity, humility, and adaptability
– Basic English or Kiswahili communication skills
– Willingness to work collaboratively with communities
Accommodation & Meals
Volunteers are accommodated in safe shared hostels or volunteer houses near project sites. Accommodation includes shared rooms, three meals per day, clean water, basic laundry access, and local orientation support.
